Push

Push is about an experimental government project to make soldiers with super powers like telekinesis, seeing into the future, and some other abilities. The movie features Dakota Fanning and that guy that played the torch in the Fantastic Four movies. The story focuses on a group of super power users trying to break away from the government agency called “The Division”.

I was very excited to finally get the chance to watch a movie and review it for the website for the first time.  I was too excited in fact trying to memorize little cinamatography tid bits that I couldn’t really watch the movie in order to enjoy it.

Babe… this is a movie review. You didn’t say anything about the movie. I’m gonna have to carry this one.

Anyway, I really liked the premise of Push - people with super powers, action, a little lovey backstory, and action. The main character is a mover (telekinesis), but in the beginning he can’t even push dice over. He, Dakota, and small group of other people are in a struggle to break away from Division. It all should lead up to an action packed movie. Push has all the right things to make a pretty good sci-fi flick. Unfortunately, this movie doesn’t quite deliver like it should.

Hun, I was just gearing up for my opinion…  The movie sounded good, but was dull and filmed in choppy segments. It ripped parts from X-Men with the blonde guy pulling people in and tossing them around like Magneto. The very young character played by Dakota was adultly dressed up in gogo girl attire with her short shorts and knee high boots. I also have to say if you do choose to watch this movie, watch it alone due to the fact that my bf “narrated it” by saying things like…“She’s a watcher,” “That guy isn’t a very good mover,” “She’s a watcher,” “He’s an awesome pusher,” “She’s a shadower, she shadowed that entire building!”  In a way it was helpful, but at the same time annoying (He means well)

Hey. I was just trying to help because I thought you might be getting lost.

You do bring up a good point though - the movie was choppy, Characters were introduced very randomly and the story gets pretty confusing. The love backstory with the main character doesn’t seem believable. Also the main character supposedly grows in his power throughout the movie, but even that seems to be forced. It’s like the plot is being pushed forward rather than the story building on itself and the plot coming from the story being told. This is a flaw that that you see in a lot of movies that come from books where everything can be explained better and in more detail. It’s a bummer as this flick had a lot of potential. Probably was a great book.

Final Verdict

Not my cup of tea. I vote a waste of a perfectly good Saturday night.

Sheesh. She is brutal. I agree that it was a disappointing flick, but not for lack of potential. Bummer.
