Found a house

Hello everyone (and by everyone I mean Cade)
My offer on a house was accepted.  I met with my credit union in Iron River, MI and they completely tried to suck me into a crappy deal so today I called to stop my application process.  In the meantime, I met with another bank and she really put me at ease by answering all my questions and giving me all the ins and outs of buying a house “the right way” for a person in my poor circumstances.  I was able to receive a 30 year loan vs a 20 year which lowers my monthly mortgage payment.  The rate offered by the credit union was 6.5% and this bank is offering me 5.25% - what a difference.  Oh and I only have to put 5% down instead of 20%.  After all this is said and done, I can get an advance on my 2010 taxes, filing for the $6,500 tax credit from the government.  That is going to be so nice.. I get my down payment back and then some.

I just wish this process was faster.  I feel like such a slump having “my house” there sitting empty and I can’t get in there to start cleaning and painting!  My main focus of the past week went toward the house.  I’ve been on a bunch of websites looking for tips to spruce up the house on a budget.  I went to the homedepot.com and uploaded pictures of the house, and from there you can pick out possible paint colors and it will “paint” the photo right on the screen.  It gives you a futuristic look of what the room could look like…granted it’s not the best quality, but it was simple and fun to do.  Well as soon as I get word that the house is officially mine, I can start packing…that’ll give me something to do around here :o)  I’ll keep you updated.

Congratulations!  You’ll love having a house of your own to work on and live in. That’s a pretty good idea about the Home Depot website…I did not know that!  I think I’ll have to head over there and check it out.
